Like every other SEO in the world, my go-to keyword research tool is Ahrefs.
And that is super annoying because they are the best, and they know it.
But unless you have $199/month to cough up to use it (yeah, they wised up to the free 7-Day trial thingy) each month, you are going to be in a pickle.
However, in my 8 years of blogging, I have always tried my best to find the cheapest way to do this online stuff, and LowFruits is one of the cheapest. So if you want to save money and still grow your blog, LowFruits just may be for you.
In the review of LowFruits.io, I want to share with you my experience in using it, how it has become my go-to when creating topical maps for topical authority, the benefits, and drawbacks, and if it’s worth your hard-earned money.

What is LowFruits?
LowFruits.io is an affordable keyword research tool used to help improve a website’s SEO. Small businesses too, huge companies, and SEO specialists can benefit from the wealth of tools available.
Beginning around 2019, a niche site owner named Paul Pilavachi (you should follow him on Twitter!) started Lowfruits.io. It’s interesting to note that there are a ton of different keyword research tools out there, so it was difficult for LowFruits to stand out.
In fact, I remember explicitly ignoring them and using Keyword Chef every time I had the opportunity. They were the better, more polished tool at the time.
Being guilty of ignoring this tool, I should have jumped right on it but didn’t until I was re-introduced to it by Yoyao over at Topical Maps Unlocked.
But one thing that LowFruits does better than any other long-tail keywords tool out there is clustering keywords.
Yeah, I said it…
Better than Keyword Chef, Keyword Cupid, Ahrefs, SEMRush…
I find a lot of those tools have too many similar clusters, causing me more work when doing the sifting.
What Is So Great About LowFruits?
Here are a few key highlights of what lowfruits.io brings to the table:
- Keyword Finder: A tool that will scrape Google for things like People Also Ask, related keywords, autosuggest, etc… And get this… it does it for free. Meaning you can get all the volumes of these keywords and not have to pay one nickel.
- Finding Low Competition Keywords: Find out about everything your competition is doing and how Google is handling it. Using Domain Authority scores to figure out the “low hanging fruits” on the first page of the SERP. You can get word counts, estimated traffic, and a cool fruit telling you where the weak spots are.
- Clustering: This is my favorite part of this tool. You can tell LowFruits to look at up to 5,000 keywords at a time and tell you the articles they need to be included in. Making the blogging game less of a guessing game and providing you with awesome anchor text ideas.
- Filtering: When you do a broad search, you will likely be met with a 12,000+ keyword report which can add up really quickly when you start paying for credits. But LF has an awesome filtering section that makes it fairly easy to knock down a credit-eating filtering session from 12k to a more manageable 3500 (or less)
- Reporting: The best part about reporting is being able to merge reports. When building out keyword plans, I find it easier to use multiple reports to generate the keywords and then merge the “like” reports later. This makes sifting through unrelated keywords easier.
- Importing of Keywords: You can easily take a list of keywords you have found and import them for them to be analyzed. This is gold and a great way to save money/credits. This way, you do not analyze a ton of keywords you have no interest in writing about.
- Exporting of Keywords: The spreadsheets of the exported keywords are easy to read and manipulate. I take them out and copy them into my own custom tool, but it still works nonetheless.

Who should use LowFruits?
SEO covers a wide range of abilities and needs and with options like Ahrefs and SEMRush out there, who should be using LowFruits?
I have been recommending LowFruits to members within OneBlogAway.co (OBA) for a while now.
OBA is also full of mostly newer but some experience in there as well, and ALL have been benefiting from using it.
Honestly, if this is the only keyword research tool you use, you would be just fine, and the beauty is found in being able to find low-competition keywords, including finding keywords with zero competition on the first page.
That skill is usually reserved for experienced SEOs. But LowFruits makes it easy.
Using LowFruits for an SEO Agency
This is a special use case, but I have been having pretty good success with using LowFruits for some agency work.
The biggest contributing factor has been the import feature.
When building topical maps, being able to grab entities from sitemaps, Wikipedia, Google, Amazon, and other resources and import them into LowFruits for analysis is so simple it’s scary.
At this point, you will definitely need to start paying for credits, but they are fairly cheap, and I learned that you need to pass that cost along to the client.
What are the Benefits of Using LowFruits?
The main benefit of using LowFruits is being able to find keywords easily.
But the worst thing about these types of keyword tools is that they flood you with keywords, and it is up to you to filter through the noise to get the keywords you actually want to target.
LowFruits makes this easy by being able to add pre-made filters to automatically remove keywords that you wouldn’t want to target anyways.
Just think about it…
If LowFruits is pulling words from Google Autosuggest for desktop and mobile, it will be a huge list of keywords.
However, the filters make it super easy to cut down a 12,000 keyword list to only 4,000.
Ease of Use
LowFruits is also very easy to use and user-friendly.
The main dashboard contains Reports, KeywordFinder Tool, Import, and websites.
They are all pretty self-explanatory, but the website’s feature is one of my favorites. You can input your own websites, and while LowFruits does its thing scouring for keywords, it will show you keywords you are already ranking for.
This makes working for clients easier as I can show them where they are and what they would want to be.
There are sections for FAQs, an Academy which teaches you some keyword basics, and Tutorial videos so you can get used to the platform.
This section is quite robust, even for novice users.
How much does LowFruits Cost?
This will take a second to explain, so please bare with me.
First of all, LowFruits is free to scour keywords and get search volumes, which is nuts to me, so take advantage while you can.
But if you want LowFruits to analyze keywords for viability and clustering, you will have to pay for credits.
LowFruits has two main ways to use their premium services, annual memberships, monthly memberships, and pay-as-you-go.
Pay-as-you-go comes in “packs.”

The PAYG works fine, but you do miss out on bonus features reserved only for subscribers, like their Explorer and Extraction services.
The subscriber services are not super unique, but very convenient when doing competitive research of other sites in you your niche.

It’s important to note as well that the credits do not roll over from month to month.
I wish they did roll over, but from a business perspective, I can understand why not.
It is also important to note that when you are a subscriber, you get 10% off any Pay-As-You-Go packs.
Which Plan should you go with?
This largely depends on your particular use case.
I’d say to start off with the PAYG and then “graduate” to the Annual subscription.
I am currently on the Standard Yearly Plan and don’t have a real need to increase it yet.
If my topical map service takes off even more than I would be able to justify.
With that said, if you are using this as your only keyword research tool, then it’s worth it.
Especially when your alternative is Ahrefs for $99/month or $199/month.
You can build a very profitable site with these plans, so go for it and give it a shot.
Pros & Cons of LowFruits.io
Low Fruist is easy to use and fairly well-priced for what it does.
I’d recommend it for beginners and experienced, or even if you are running an agency, as keeping track of clients is quite easy with merging reports and having customizable insights within the tool when entering domain names.
The filtering is out of this world and makes it easy to save on spending credits.
Finally, clustering. LowFruits does an amazing job clustering and making it easy to sort through thousands of keywords and see where they belong semantically with each other.
If you are not careful, you can burn through credits really fast, so be careful when running analyzing reports, as your credit will disappear quickly.
When importing keywords, you have to be absolutely sure that you have the advanced features turned off or you will end up with more and more keywords, and in most cases, those keywords are so off the mean it just ends up being a waste and more time to filter.
So, Is LowFruits.io Worth it?
Yes, LowFruits is totally worth it and a great research tool.
I love using other tools like Ahrefs and KeywordChef, but I keep finding myself coming back to LowFruits.
Why? Because of the ease of use, familiarity, and clustering.
LowFruits is one of the best keyword clustering tools on the internet and will keep using it for that matter.
